From Mrs Broadway -to- the Hip & Humble Rapper!

this is crew's cute grandma starring in the big production of "Bountiful City" a historical city play with each scene showing all the different
events that have taken place, Pioneers - to - Present Day. It was really cool! During the play there was even a digitial slide show of the original pictures of the people and places. grandma sherrie was so cool in a dazzling performance showcasing her range of talents as she put her singing on hold to debut her acting ability. The highlight of the evening was her rap dance with a dozen teenagers getting funky to the tune of the "mosquito rap" which told the swampy calamities of the infamous 1983 flood. Check this out on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRcp86yXbXw I know this is NOT YOUR GRANDMA... but it is SO worth watching!!

STATE FAIR FUN!!!

SHEEPY CREW AND PIGLET GAVIN, TOO!

another fun saturday! going to the fair this year was a new experience b/c i usually go for the RIDES, not this year, though. crew has a very sensitive tummy like his daddy (not that he is even big enough to ride). we went to stroll around and see all the animals, crazy folk, loud noises, music, colors, and especially for the FAIR FOOD! i love all the specialties like dip'n dots, funnel cakes, ft.long corn dogs, ice cream, freshly squeezed lemon-aid, and most of all......LOOK BELOW AT THE FRIES!

Take a look at this plate i am holding.... this is a SIX DOLLAR mound of the most delicious greasy state fair FRIES. and we ate them all (even though we were full before they were gone) But luckily we didn't get sick! he he

MOOOOOOO

LOOK HOW CUTE- this is a little baby cow and crew is petting the ear! he probably thinks it's a dog like harley!

More At the State Fair!

Tigers Of India!

WE got to witness the daunting and dangerous side of these exotic tigers, as a woman holding the FORBIDEN UMBRELLA (obviously didn't see the WARNING sign- that said
no umbrellas), spooked the tigers so much so that the two you see here, charged the cage (causing it to lean- towards us- SCARY) AND then four more tigers came running out of a trailor and the tigers started to jump on each other like they were attacking. this didn't last long, but it sure brought our adrenaline up! the umbrella lady was only there for a few short moments before the security people flew in and took away the umbrella and folded it down! crazy huh?

Binki RECALL!!!

old binkis!

new binki!

we like to think of these adorable little binkis as a magical mechanism that soothes our whole family! not that jeremy and i use them in our own mouths, but we love to use them on crew in times of crying, moaning, whinning, etc. 'mute button' is truly the most appropriate term for this contraption, and when it is turned on, we can all be happy again!! HOWEVER, they have been recalled!!! yikes... the story is that a nipple came off and the baby choked on it (the baby is ok, in case you were wondering)! so i believe this is serious enough of a reason to get rid of them! so i bought the "new and improved" binki and UNFORTUNATELY the nipple is a whole different shape and texture! so, of course, crew doesn't understand that this one is used for the same purposes as the old ones! when i attempt to force it on him, he will usually humor me by biting it like a chew toy, but only for about 30 secs, then when he sees me relax and put my hand down, he grabs it out and flings it across the room!!! needless to say, i am still using the defective binkis...! (But not for long) i don't have my next solution, but a few ideas are:
1) finish the magical binki chapter of his life!
2) look for other styles as similar to his as possible (even if they are ugly, YIKES!) not fun!
or
3) you give me any advice that you think might really do the trick!

PS- I HAVE ALREADY TRIED putting sweets on the end of the new binki (the success rate is too short, i need a permanent fix)

"memory mixer" real fun stuff!

for all you scrapbook junkies.... AND.... FOR THOSE OF YOU LIKE ME (not a scrapbooker), there is DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING!!! "memory mixer" is the company that i have taken a couple classes from. there are two more free classes that they are doing for our ward, and have invited any one and everyone that would like to come. plus they are giving there software to you before class! there is so much you can do such as: photobooks, greeting cards, calanders, your family tree, etc. the possibilities are practically endless! so let me know if you are interested and i'll give you the full scoupe. anyway, my favorite part is that you can make a real hard bound book! they are so cool and great gifts. i tried to download a cool pic to go with this but i couldn't get one that i wanted, so here is a couple links that you can visit. one is a demonstartion on youtube that will do better than me to explain- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmhHqiddN6Q and their website http://www.memorymixer.com/ did i mention that if you come to the classes... then you get everything for only $50.00 plus a hard-bound book included! that is a screamin deal. now i know i sound like i am giving a sales pitch, but i am not getting anything at all, i just want everyone to get in on this deal that would want to.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

MEMORIES!! this is me when i was only 2 or 3 weeks old! i look like a snuggly baby gorilla- so sweet!! it might just be a fluke, but when jonz and i were looking at this pic, we noticed that my left eyelid hangs a teeny tiny bit lower than my right one (like crew's). and it also does in my one-year baby pic as well. it might only be a coincidence, but maybe i carry this gene. isn't that interesting.
so hopefully crew's eye will improve well enough that he won't need the surgery that was suggested by four different specialists (to prevent potential damage to the eyeball itself). will keep you updated on that later!
AND NOW I CAN DEFINITELY SAY THAT CREW LOOKS LIKE ME!!! he he
BY THE WAY..... MY SWEET BABY IS 9 MONTHS TODAY, so i should have posted a pic of me at 9mo. -too late! WE LOVE YOU BIGBOY!

supersized saturday!

the latest and greatest activity. here's to our weekly announcement solicitating any fellow fun-goers who wish to participate... we will be headed to the state fair!! howdy doody! call for more info!

can i climb this, too??

my little climber is getting so big!! crew climbs up every thing! life with crew gets more fun every day! now that he has conquered crawling, all he wants to do is climb... up the couches, stools, t.v., crib, me, etc. then he looks at me with a huge smile on his face and squeals in delight! i love this age!
he is starting to eat more food and a larger variety. we just started baby snacks... the so called, wagon wheels, puffs, and toast strips. it is so fun! plus i love having these on hand when he gets fussy in church (or where ever). AND FINALLY he is taking formula (a little bit here and there). i started to ween him at six months old, but i wasn't successful until now, today, (nine months in two days). i love to have both options available to me for the mood i am in and/or situation i am in!! life is great!
although i must say, i thought i would be better in my parenting paradigm than i am... i was a very skilled babysitter for most of my life and imagined that i would handle things similarly when i had my own child(ren). NOT SO! i am flighty when i plan to be consistent, i am perplexed even when i had anticipated whatever it is, i am axious when i get off schedule, and i am tired in the day, but energized at night when crew is asleep (and i should be,too). i was just the opposite when i babysat for other people's children...calm, cool, and collected. my emotions don't seem to cooperate with my brain any more. and every book seems to fall short of the one thing i need answered UNTIL...UNTIL it is not needed anymore b/c crew and i are past "that" problem (then the book spells out the solution clear as glass). isn't it funny!!
however, having said this... i still consider myself very relaxed and go-with-the-flow. i might be in denial, or i might just be so confused that i fly by the seat of my pants and hope that it will all work out. i have a funny feeling that with my next child, i will be so loose and confident that i will let it all go to my head and have another kid!! yikes!! how do you do that???? signing off for now..
i love my life!!

hole-in-one! (jeremy got two)!!!

night at mulligans for some mini golf and a round of balls at the batting cages! crew loved it!

climbing, of course. it is my area of expertise!

my turn, dad!! i'll knock one out of the park for you!!!

SUMMER FUN!

as summer time is coming to an end, i find myself finally ready for summer TO BEGIN!! isn't that crazy! i don't know what it is, but i just got use to the weather, crew's schedule, how and when to clean (or not), and all the other things i had to re-learn with a baby around... i.e. -just how long it really takes to pack a swim bag for an infant! needless to say, i haven't done all the summer-time activies yet that we love to do. so jeremy and i decided to do some thing fun every saturday until it's too cold, and we wanted to include you all!!! i will be posting our plans and/or ideas, so let me know if you want to come! the more, the merrier!

this saturday falls over labor day weekend and that means... LAST CHANCE FOR SWIMMING POOLS, so we will be going to the cottonwood heights spa at 12:15pm

in two saturdays (the 13th), we want to go to uba lake or some warm close lake, beach all day, take a cooler with food, play in the water and maybe jet-ski, and last... stop at a cool burger and shake joint for dinner! we would need to coordinate this sooner than later, so let me know (budjet for $50.00+ if we rent a couple jet skiis)

FUN IN THE SUN!!!

RE-CAP OF OUR SUMMER

Summer Begins Here!!

RIGHT-ON Charli, RIGHT-ON!!a star-studded graduation celebration to kick-off the summer of 08'!! my cute and very astute sister, Charli, met this special time in her life with an honorary graduation certificate from the skin science school of esthetics!!! HURRAY AND CONGRATS TO HER! YOU DID IT GIRL!!

SUMMER BUMBLE BEES!
YIKES! summer brings the very exciting yet painfull bumble bees, to which harley loves to chase. unfortunately some times they sting and it isn't fun any more. she has a small allergic reaction to these stings and therefore, has a very distorted and enlarged lip. the picture doesn't do it justice b/c this lip was at least 4x's the size and about 1 1/2 in. thick! kinda scary but we knew what to expect having gone through this once before on her eye. it was really scary then b/c her eye blew up so big she looked like "quazzy mo-do" (i have no idea of how to spell that, but i hope you get the idea).

sUMMER bREEZE
jeremy is now riding his bike to work every day!! GO JONZ! he recently purchased us a couple bikes so we could go as a family, unfortunatley mine was stollen only two days later. so now we look forward to getting another bike and a bike-trailer for little crewzer, SO WE CAN ACTUALLY GO AS A FAMILY!

sUMMER tIME rODEOS!!
this was the Lehi Rodeo and it was our very first time. it was a really new experience. much to my dismay at seeing humans beings getting dangerously bucked around and the innocent animals experiencing a surprise whip of a rope around their bodies and being tied up by their feet all for the sport of speed and technique, we had a great time. especially when we saw the crazy bikers!!! look close at this pic to see just how far away the ramps are. this was wild AND i will definately do it again!

sUMMER TIME EATING I just had to get a pic of my crew in!!!
HIKING!!
this is Ferguson Canyon, and it is a really fun hike with a lot of shade and a few really pretty water-falls, a stream, and it is really close to home, plus it is dog friendly. so we might do this hike again if anyone wants to come, look for that!

this is how close we were to a parasailer. it actually might not look that close to you but i did my best with the camera to catch our perception. anyway, it was really cool.

going PARKING!

how fun is this? let me just tell you... this is way funnn! crew loves to swing!

Drive-in Movie (without the car)

summer-night movie! this was really neat! this was a family birthday party, with a big blow-up movie screen and amazing speakers set up on the capital grounds! Way Cool! and this is me with my sister-in-law and mother-in-law and cool-crew, and jeremy with his brother and his son

Wheeler Farm!!
picnic at the farm with our friends! and take a look at this nasty RAT.

it snuck into the pig pen to have some lunch! GROSS!!

G.I. JOE...DOWN AND GIVE ME 50!

YIKES, WE ARE ALMOST TO A FULL CRAWL!! a new phase in life for crewser and mommy (and daddy). crew is so close to crawling at full speed...but until then, he can still get to whatever it is he wants.

WARNING: this is a journal doc. (might be boring to you)
crew was crying from his bed a couple days ago, i went in to get him..... DUN DUN DUN... he was standing up holding onto the crib-side staring at me! i could scare believe my eyes, i think even crew could tell that i was in shock for a brief moment. it was really exciting! for you first time mommies, i am sure you can understand!

crew

as a mother i look at this picture in aahh! he is so beautiful, sweet, happy, loving, special, and this picture captures it all and so much more.

the break-down begins!! (can you blame him)

this is what happens when i become overly
excited with the camera.

in tennis 'love' means nothing...but I say they were mis-informed!

MATCH MAKING,
in addition to a tennis match! he he

jeremy and i love playing tennis together. this summer we have been able to play competitively again, as oppose to last, when i was 6mo. prego at this time last year! (when he was beating me), but i, very determined, happily regained the title
this night. (long over due) His rebuttle is "we only played one set and not a whole match." and to that i say..."somebody call the waaaaambulance" (jeremy is sitting right by me)

very very important events that i forgot to document about our vacation!

ok, i can't believe that i forgot to mention some thing incredibly crazy about our trip... CREW WAS IN HIS FIRST EARTHQUAKE (5.4)!!! yikes! we were all in the hotel room (on the second floor) and suddenly every thing started to shake and move. about 5 seconds into it, i realized it was truly an EARTHQUAKE and then ran (LIKE THE WIND) to my baby (taking-out a few people in the way), scooped crew up, and ran to a door way (preparing for the worst! after aprx. 25 seconds, it ended. i was scared during it, but now i look back and think it was a cool experience (i only can and would say that b/c there was no devastations as a result, happily and thankfully). anyway, i had to make sure to document this event b/c it was it was obviously exciting, but also and more important... this blog is acting as crew's scrapbook. i will figure out one day how to print this whole thing out. (by the way, if anyone knows how, please tell me!) to learn more about the earthquake, visit http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/29/earthquake.ca/

harley look-a-like contest!

this is what i imagine our Harley dog looked like when she was a baby! we almost brought this lil' "davidson" (that is what we named him) back with us from cali. this is a male boxer puppy in case you didn't know. he had the exact same coloring, markings, and sweetest disposition as harley! it was amazing and too good to be true! after much debate on this purchase, we knew that two babies in our home would be TOO much for us (among other reasons) sadly!

message to crew!

to crew:
crew, although mom is in this pic of us taking a walk... it was actually your wonderful daddy who took you for a long and adventurous walk every morning of our vacation so that mom could sleep in. it was so wonderful and i will remember that for always! thanks again jonz, i love you and really appreciated that with all my heart!

BEACH BABY!!!

OUR little family trip to New Port Beach. so we went to SO CAL with my family and want to share some of our fun times!!

mommy and crew playing on the beach!

as you can see, the pics are only of me and crew... well we didn't have a chance to get photos of crew with dad at the beach because jeremy was in the ocean the whole time, having a blast cutting through the waves with his boogy board and racing the other wanna-be surfers to shore. and i, of course, loved watching him show off for us!!

unlike dad's love for the ocean, crew had a different experience. although crew loves the swimming pool, he hardly enjoyed the element of surprise from the big waves crashing onto shore, a quick rush of cold water moving over him, and then disappearing just as fast, leaving him to sink into the unfamiliar, cold, wet, sand, again. so he played with mom and grandma for a while, before he took a nice long siesta on the beach, wrapped up like a cocoon in his towel. (sadly, i didn't get a pic of that b/c our camera batteries died) but, trust me....IT WAS THE CUTTEST SIGHT TO SEE!
